Industrialist John Hammond established Jurassic Park, a dinosaur-themed wildlife park, on Isla Nublar, located near the coast of Costa Rica. After a velociraptor fatally attacked a park handler, the park's investors demanded a safety evaluation. Their legal representative, Donald Gennaro, invited chaos theorist Ian Malcolm to the review, while Hammond brought in paleontologist Dr. Alan Grant and paleobotanist Dr. Ellie Sattler. Upon arrival, the team was astonished to encounter living dinosaurs, including Brachiosaurus and Parasaurolophus. During their visit to the park’s visitor center, they learned that cloning had been achieved by extracting dinosaur DNA from prehistoric mosquitoes preserved in amber. To complete the genome where gaps existed, DNA from other animals, such as frogs, was utilized.
